“ This is probably one of the best local spots for authentic Japanese food! I wish I could come here more often but there's usually always a wait, and for good reason. The sushi is always fresh, the ambiance is nice, servers are very attentive, and everything here is reasonably priced! My favorite thing to get is the Nabeyaki udon. I love udon (I used to work at an udon restaurant) and theirs definitely does not disappoint. They really fill up the pot with ingredients (chicken, fishcakes, veggies, tempura flakes) so you'll be full, and it's only $14! If you want to avoid the wait, make sure to come on a weekday before 6pm. It's definitely worth the wait though! ”

“ I've been coming to Kappo Honda for 15 years now and they've always been consistent with the quality and flavors of their food. Their service is always top notch. The staff are respectful and kind. Ambiance is spacious, with different options to be seated from the bar, to booths, large tables for big groups and zashiki room. Over the years I've ordered their udon, ramen, nigiris, yakitori (the char is so perfect), tako wasabi and the list goes on. I'm getting hungry while writing this! I've enjoyed everything I've ordered. If you get a chance to, please order their raw oysters! So good! ”

“ It's been some time since I moved from HB...Used to come here all the time. We had a chance to visit again since we were in OC and it was just like old times. As you can see we got a lot of dishes and all were phenomenal, except for the clams. Still good but expecting something else, like the clams they serve at Honda Ya in Little Tokyo. There are just some things that you can't find in other Japanese restaurants and that's why I still love this place. Off all the dishes we ordered, the mushrooms were the best! The service was excellent and they were always walking around and asking how everything was going. Not just our server, but every server. It's a small place so you can't help but ask. I love how it is so closed and no open windows to show the busy street outside. If you've been to Tokyo, this is what some places would look like. “ Came here on a Sunday, right when they opened and there was 4 ppl ahead of us! The moment you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to Japan. I love the way they decorated this restaurant! The server and workers were all so nice, they will say hi and bye to you when you walk in/leave. I felt so welcomed here! We ordered the spicy miso ramen, peach chu hi, beer, and a bunch of skewers. The spicy miso ramen had a lot of flavor and came with a lot of noodles, it was a good dish to get for this cold weather. The peach chu hi was soooo delicious, I will definitely be getting this everytime I'm here. The price was so cheap for this drink too, you seriously can't beat it. My fiance got the beer and he said it was the coldest beer he's ever had, the glass came frozen! Now onto the star of the show, the skewers! I ordered the hamburger meat with cheese and the pork belly with garlic. These are a must get! The hamburger meat had a sweetness to it and the cheese made it so delicious and creamy. I also loved the pork belly, it was so juicy and fatty. My fiance also get the beef tongue and pork cheek, which were all delicious as well. The only reason I knocked this place down a star, is because it took a long time to get our skewers. We figured it was because they just opened, so the kitchen was still prepping. Despite the wait, I will definitely be coming back here! ”
